WQMP Volunteer Training: April 12th, 2022
April 12 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm PDT
Since 2012, LPOW’s Water Quality Monitoring Program has collected important data from all over Lake Pend Oreille and the Pend Oreille River in an effort to keep our watershed clean for years to come. Each year, dedicated citizen scientists have collected water quality measurements from 13 different monitoring stations in order to test for 11 different water quality parameters. In 2022, LPOW will be handing off our WQMP to Idaho Conservation League (ICL). LPOW has been working diligently with ICL for the past few months to guarantee a smooth transition for our WQMP. The only significant changes that will happen for this upcoming season are who will be managing the program and where you will drop off your samples once they are collected.
On April 12th, LPOW and ICL will be hosting the first citizen scientist training session at Sandpoint City Beach from 5:30PM – 6:30PM. Please meet us on the docks at Windbag Marina to learn about volunteer expectations, sampling procedures, and to get hands-on experience with the sampling equipment.. If you attend training, you are not required to be a full-time volunteer. However, you must attend training to participate in the program. Another training session will be held in late April/early May if you are unable to attend training on April 12th. No experience required to volunteer for this program! Please RSVP by emailing Carolyn: firstname.lastname@example.org.
