Sandpoint, ID | Lake Pend Oreille
Average temperature at City Beach from June 12 - September 6, 2021
City Beach is one of the most popular swimming spots on Lake Pend Oreille! Only a couple of blocks from downtown Sandpoint, City Beach is easily accessible and is historically important to both Native American Tribes and the local community. At the park there are two marinas, a snack shack, sport courts, 6 acres of white sand beaches, a mini State of Liberty, and plenty of other facilities. City Beach is surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains and clear blue water, making it one of the best beaches in Idaho!
During the summer, lifeguards at City Beach take the temperature of the water everyday. In front of the guard shack and Stand #3, lifeguards measure the temperature of the water about 1 foot below the surface between 11:30am – 12:00pm. The data in the graphs above was provided by the City of Sandpoint.

Our team worked closely with the City of Sandpoint in 2012 to establish and implement a new management program for aquatic invasive weeds at City Beach and the Windbag Marina using diver assisted hand-pulling.
In February 2020, the City of Sandpoint announced a 3 year contract with a local weed management company which will guarantee the use herbicide-free solutions to beat back aquatic invasive species in areas frequented by swimmers and boaters on Lake Pend Oreille, including diver-assisted suction harvesting, bottom barriers, and other recommended methods.
